Duvan Zapata said Papu Gomez is still Atalanta’s captain and praised ‘devastating’ Josip Ilicic after La Dea’s 4-1 win over Roma.
“We had never left, we had had a tough period, but we played a great game today,” Zapata, the scorer Atalanta’s equaliser against the Giallorossi, told Sky Sport.

“It was not easy to turn the game around. I live for goals, but sometimes they are not the most important thing. It is also important to help the team.
“Ilcic helped us to play a better football, he was devastating up front, I am happy for him, you can tell he is fit.”
Papu Gomez was left out of Atalanta squad and is expected to leave Bergamo in January.
“He is still one of us, he is our captain and we hope to see him soon on the field with us," Zapata concluded.
