Zaniolo’s mum hits back at Bertolini on Instagram

Nicolò Zaniolo’s mum hits back at Italy women national team coach Milena Bertolini: ‘Too easy to point the finger, it’s better to ignore.’

Zaniolo was sent off for dissent in Roma‘s 0-0 draw against Genoa on Saturday after seeing a potential late winner disallowed following a VAR check.

The Giallorossi and Italy starlet was criticised by Bertolini, who said Zaniolo must be “helped and educated,” receiving criticism from Roma fans on social media.

Zaniolo’s mum Francesca Costa also criticised Bertolini with an Instagram story. “It’s too easy to point the finger, better to ignore,” she wrote.

“I thank all of you for your messages and the love you show,” she added. “This message is for you.”

Zaniolo has scored four goals in 27 appearances at a club level this term. He has already seen red twice this term.

The first time was in the opening Serie A match against Fiorentina in August and the second one during the last weekend.

His contract with Roma expires in June 2024 and even if club director Tiago Pinto said he couldn’t guarantee Zaniolo will stay at Roma next season, José Mourinho has ensured that the 22-year-old won’t leave as long as he remains at the club.
