Despite Tottenham Hotspur interest, Nicolò Zaniolo seems inclined to negotiate a new contract with Roma that would earn him €4.5m per season.

The 23-year-old has a current deal that runs to June 2024 and it had looked until a few days ago as if a sale this summer was inevitable.

Juventus, Milan and Tottenham Hotspur had all shown interest, with Antonio Conte’s Premier League side likely the only ones who could approach the €60m asking price.

However, now things have changed and Jose Mourinho has seemingly convinced both the player and the club to continue together.

According to Sportitalia and Calciomercato.com, the parties are close to agreeing a new contract to June 2027 that will earn Zaniolo circa €4.5m per season.

That is a massive increase from his current €2.5m per season deal, which was signed in 2019.

The Italy international helped Roma win the Europa Conference League last season, contributing eight goals and nine assists in 42 competitive matches, including the decider in the Final against Feyenoord.
