According to reports in Italy, Nicolò Zaniolo could face the consequences for his offensive gestures to Lazio fans and either receive a fine or be suspended.

There was tension at the Stadio Olimpico when the Roma starlet was subbed of in the second half of the Derby Della Capitale.

A group of Lazio fans insulted Zaniolo, who didn’t hold back and replied with some offensive gestures.

According to Calciomercato.com, Zaniolo’s behaviour has been reported by the federal prosecutor’s inspectors attending the game, meaning the Italian midfielder could face the consequences for his action.

It remains to be seen if the FIGC Prosecutor will decide to take action against Zaniolo, but the 22-year-old could either be fined or banned for one or more games.

The former Fiorentina and Inter starlet has returned to the pitch this season after recovering from a knee injury, the second one of his career.

He has scored one goal and delivered an assist in seven appearances across all competitions.

  2. Joey Votto summed it up best when he was being heckled in the batter’s box by two fans. Point is, fanatics of football literally have no life. I’m all for banter but fans of all sports cannot be saying ruthless things freely. An athlete is paid a huge sum of money to perform but money aside they are human beings and should not be verbally accosted. Imagine you or I going to work and being heckled by random people lol. More needs to be done to protect the players however, Zaniolo can’t be making that gesture, no matter how provoked because the first party to get slapped with a fine or suspension will be the team or player.
