Roma won their second pre-season friendly against Portuguese side Portimonense, with Filippo Tripi and Nicolò Zaniolo on target, but Tammy Abraham missed a penalty.

The Giallorossi have started where they left off last season, winning under Jose Mourinho, as they saw off Sunderland 2-0 before this identical result against Primeira Liga side Portimonense.

It was 20-year-old midfielder Tripi who broke the deadlock when he let a Lorenzo Pellegrini corner bounced to fire in on the half-volley with the outside of his right boot.

Felix Afena-Gyan went off after a knock to the knee and Gianluca Mancini was booked for getting into a row with an opponent.

Zaniolo came on at half-time and was given the captain’s armband, perhaps a sign from Mourinho after Juventus speculation.

The Italy international was certainly in a good mood, as he thumped the crossbar within 15 minutes, then scored as he controlled a Zeki Celik pass with his chest and fired in with his left foot.

It should’ve been 3-0 when Nicola Zalewski was brought down by Pedrosa, but Abraham blasted the penalty over the bar.

Ebrima Darboe also went off after seeming to sprain his knee.

  1. Juve the average team it is will not even win club title.
    Let them keep
    All there average foreigners players.
Roma give the young Italians a chance. They have few good players
