Nicolò Zaniolo said winning the Conference League for Roma had been ‘my dream since I was a child’ and ‘perhaps we don’t even realise how strong we are.’

He scored the winning goal in the 1-0 Final victory over Feyenoord in Tirana, becoming the first team ever to win the inaugural Conference League.

“I am so happy, it was my dream since I was a child to win a trophy like this. There are no words for the fans, they are fantastic and it’s all for them,” Zaniolo told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have a strong squad, perhaps even we don’t realise how strong we are. I dedicate the goal to my mother, my father, my grandparents, my sister and everyone who stood by me during difficult times.”

Roma will be in the Europa League next season, although they would’ve been there regardless, finishing sixth in Serie A.

It is the first time Roma have won a major UEFA trophy, not to mention the first tournament that goes to an Italian club since Jose Mourinho’s Inter in 2010.
