Nicolo Zaniolò aimed a dig at new Bournemouth director Tiago Pinto, remembering what the Portuguese had said when the Italian winger joined Galatasaray.

Premier League side Bournemouth have just confirmed the appointment of Tiago Pinto as their new director. Pinto left Roma after the 2024 January transfer window, five months before the expiration of his contract.

He was in charge of the Giallorossi transfers when Zaniolo asked to leave the club in January 2023 and ended up at Galatasaray after rejecting an offer from Bournemouth.

During an interview about Zaniolo at that time, Pinto said: “If one wants to leave and has offers from Galatasaray and Bournemouth only, he has to ask himself some questions.”

Zaniolo mocks Tiago Pinto over Bournemouth appointment

Revenge is a dish best served cold, so Zaniolo hit back at the ex-Roma director more than a year later by sharing these quotes from the Portuguese and adding his comment: “Time to time, it all makes sense.”

Zaniolo’s comment came only a few hours before Bournemouth’s official announcement.

Zaniolo spent the last season on loan at Aston Villa but is expected to return to Galatasaray this summer. Fiorentina are reportedly interested in the Italian winger who will miss Euro 2024 due to a foot injury that required surgery.

  1. Yes but for the English audience, that translation makes no sense. Unless Pinto had actually wanted zaniolo to end up at bournemouth for selfish reasons. But in reality, he was effectively making fun of zaniolo. Belittling bournemouth and zaniolo. And now, he himself has ended up there 😂
