Nicolò Zaniolo is looking forward to working with José Mourinho and reveals what Carlo Ancelotti told him after his knee injury in September.

Zaniolo sustained two different knee injuries in 2020. The first one in January, in a Serie A clash between Juventus and Roma.

The second one was in September when he got injured during a Nations League meeting between The Netherlands and Italy.

“That’s the last time I cried, we were playing in Holland, and I picked up a cruciate ligament injury,” the Italian midfielder told Sportweek.

“Carlo Ancelotti tried to cheer me up saying that medicine was not so advanced when he was a footballer,” the midfielder revealed.

Zaniolo missed the entire 2020-21 campaign and won’t take part in Euro 2020, but will return to action next season with José Mourinho in the dugout.

“We are all so excited. We are looking forward to proving to him how much we are worth. It’s an honour to be coached by him. I’m looking forward to it.”

The full interview will be released on Saturday.
