Zaniolo has ban, penalty appeal and injury for Roma

Roma star Nicolò Zaniolo had an eventful game against Napoli, as he was booked and will miss Inter, had penalty appeals rejected and then went off with a sprained ankle.

The incidents occurred in the second half of their Serie A trip to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Zaniolo tried to pull out of a high tackle on Mario Rui and then fell on the ball, leading to a handling offence.

He was shown the yellow card, but DAZN report it was not for the handball, but rather his protests at the foul being given against him.

Soon after, Zaniolo went down in the penalty area when Alex Meret came rushing off his line and the pair connected heavily.

However, replays show Meret got the ball first, although even that wasn’t enough to calm Jose Mourinho’s sarcastic smile and a member of his bench getting sent off for dissent.

Zaniolo then buckled all by himself near the touchline, seemingly spraining his ankle and immediately calling for a substitution.

He was able to walk off without help, which suggests it might be a sprain and not anything more serious.
