Sky Sport Italia confirms Nicolò Zaniolo has been frozen out by Roma who won’t sell the Italy international in January or during the summer for an offer below the one made by Bournemouth last week.

The Italy international has asked to leave in January but rejected an offer from the Premier League strugglers. Bournemouth had put on the table €30m plus add-ons and shook hands with the Giallorossi, failing to agree to terms with Zaniolo. José Mourinho said on Sunday that Zaniolo was not part of the club’s plans.

Sky Sport Italia confirms the ex-Inter midfielder has now been frozen out of the team and won’t play for Roma again this season.

Zaniolo didn’t train with the team this morning and returned to his native city La Spezia after facing angry Roma ultras on Sunday night, who forced him to call the police to get protection.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma have made it clear that they won’t sell Zaniolo for an offer below the one made by Bournemouth last week, which was around €35-36m, including add-ons.

The striker’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico runs out in June 2024.
