Nicolò Zaniolo is “fired up” by the hope he can play in a delayed Euro 2020, said his mother, but the Roma star’s agent is not taking things too quickly.
The 20-year-old had been on track to play for Italy when he suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament on January 13.
He was devastated to miss out on the European Championship, but that has been delayed until next summer by the coronavirus pandemic.

He was devastated to miss out on the European Championship, but that has been delayed until next summer by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Nicolò is very fired up and it’s not easy for a 20-year-old to deal with this situation,” his mother Francesca Costa told the Corriere dello Sport.
“He is highly-motivated, feels the knee is responding well and thinks he’ll soon be able to do everything the others do. He’s not ready yet, but the prospect of the Euros has him fired up.”
Agent Claudio Vigorelli also spoke to the newspaper and discussed the suspension of Serie A football, which means the season could end in July.
“He has been determined since the first day that he entered into this dark tunnel. The suspension allows him to take more time over his recovery and he doesn’t need to rush. It’s too early to say if he’ll be able to play again this season, though.”
