According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy international Nicolò Zaniolo is tempted to return to Serie A next season given that Aston Villa are unlikely to make his move permanent in the summer.

Zaniolo joined the Premier League side on loan with an option to buy in 2023 but hasn’t started a Premier League game since December.

La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Andrea Ramazzotti claims Zaniolo will likely return to Galatasaray at the end of the current campaign, but the ex-Roma star is considering a Serie A return.

The report, published in Sunday’s Gazzetta dello Sport newsletter, says Fiorentina, Milan and Juventus are monitoring the situation but would only be interested in signing Zaniolo on loan with an option to buy, the same formula used by Aston Villa last summer.

Zaniolo joined Galatasaray from Rom in February 2023 for €15m plus bonuses, some of which were tied to the striker’s performances with the national team.

The 24-year-old has only scored two goals in 27 appearances across all competitions with Aston Villa this term.
