Nicolò Zaniolo has reportedly agreed personal terms with Galatasaray, including the demand for a low release clause, as Roma continue to whittle down the details of the transfer.

The Italy international found himself stranded after putting in a January transfer request, but turning down the only firm offer that came in from Bournemouth.

That was worth €30m including bonuses, with a percentage of the sell-on fee, and above all was a permanent transfer.

Roma have made it clear they are ready to leave Zaniolo in the stands for the rest of the season if needs be, with his contract running to June 2024, so he opened the door to joining Galatasaray, seeing as the Turkish transfer window is still open until Wednesday February 8.

According to multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zaniolo has agreed personal terms for the move to Galatasaray at circa €3m per season.

This is believed to include a low release clause, set at circa €25-30m for the summer of 2023, which could allow him a return to Serie A for Milan or Juventus, or even a Premier League club he is more convinced by than Bournemouth.

Zaniolo has his bags packed and is waiting for the all-clear to make the journey to Istanbul.

He must wait for Roma to reach an agreement with Galatasaray over the fee, which at the moment seems to be reaching €20-22m including bonuses.

Meanwhile, Zaniolo also dropped a hint via social media, liking the Instagram post showing Galatasaray’s win over Trabzonspor.

There are several other former Serie A players at Galatasaray, such as Dries Mertens, Mauro Icardi and Lucas Torreira.
