Roma forward Nicolò Zaniolo has been fined €10,000 for his gesture against Lazio, but has avoided suspension.

The Disciplinary Commission has decided to not suspend the Giallorossi attacker but Zaniolo, who feared disqualification, will not miss the next games.

But the Italy international, who replied to the Lazio fans with some offensive gestures after being substituted in the Derby della Capitale, has been fined €10,000 for his behaviour.

He was sanctioned ‘for having, at the end of the match, leaving the pitch, made a vulgar gesture of challenge addressed to the supporters of the opposing team; infringement detected by the collaborators of the Federal Prosecutor’.

Zaniolo, who has played five times in Serie A 2021-22, will therefore be available when Roma play Empoli in the next League game ahead of the international break.

Roma sit fourth with 12 points after six games, six points behind League leaders Napoli, and are currently preparing to play FC Zorya Luhansk in the Europa Conference League.
