Italy internationals Nicolo Zaniolo and Sandro Tonali are set to be heard by the Turin prosecutor’s office ‘as soon as possible’ as investigations into alleged illegal gambling continue.

Though a specific timeline has not been provided, Sky Sport Italia note that Zaniolo and Tonali will soon be summoned by the Prosecutor’s office, depending on their earliest availability, which could be within the next week.

Tonali’s legal representative was in Turin on Monday morning to hold a meeting with the prosecutors to confirm his involvement with the case, which had not previously been formalised.

Zaniolo and Tonali were placed under formal investigation last week, after police arrived at Coverciano to question the pair.

Zaniolo has insisted that he did not bet on football matches, saying he had only played poker and blackjack, but was unaware that he had been using illegal platforms.

In the meantime, investigators have seized phones and tablets from Zaniolo and Tonali and are currently analysing any potential evidence.
