Italian reports suggest Galatasaray have made an offer to Roma worth €18m plus bonuses for Nicolò Zaniolo, putting Bologna’s Musa Barrow on hold, but it might not be enough to convince either party.

Zaniolo has been frozen out after he put in a transfer request, only to reject the €30m offer on the table from Bournemouth, a decision that infuriated his club.

The Giallorossi are prepared to leave him in the stands for six months, with his contract running down in June 2024, rather than accept a lower bid.

However, the Turkish transfer window is still open for a few more days and Galatasaray are making a strong attempt to sign the Italy international.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Galatasaray have also put their negotiations with Bologna for striker Barrow on hold, putting their resources into getting Zaniolo instead.

The proposal is worth €18m plus €4m in performance-related bonuses, so considerably less than Bournemouth had put on the table.

Crucially, unlike Milan, Tottenham and Fenerbahce, this would be a loan with obligation to buy rather than just an option.

However, Zaniolo is still not convinced at all, even if Roma do accept the lower bid.
