Nicolo Zaniolo is edging closer to putting pen to paper on a new contract with Roma, with only a few final details still remaining, reports suggest.
The 23-year-old Italian forward was the subject of serious transfer rumours in the summer as multiple reports linked him with a move to the Premier League or Juventus, but the played ultimately remained in the Italian capital. With Zaniolo’s contract expiring in 2024, a new deal is necessary to tie him to Roma for the foreseeable future.
As detailed by Calciomercato.com, Zaniolo’s agent reached an agreement with Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto over the international break, accepting a new contract lasting until 2027.
The 23-year-old’s salary will be raised to around €4m net per season, in line with the other top players in the squad, and now the two parties will discuss whether to include a €50m release clause or not.
A total agreement is expected in the coming weeks and the announcement will soon follow, confirming Zaniolo’s future in the Italian capital for years to come.
