Nicolò Zaniolo’s agent certainly does not close the door after Juventus links. ‘It is pleasing to see him linked with big clubs, but at this moment he is a Roma player.’

The 22-year-old is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until June 2024, but has not even started discussions over an extension.

His most recent deal was signed in the summer of 2019, just a year after his move from Inter as part of the Radja Nainggolan transfer.

Speaking at the Football Conference to Tuttomercatoweb, agent Claudio Vigorelli was asked specifically if Zaniolo would continue at Roma.

“It’s a wonderful project. The best thing is seeing him back on the field after the second serious knee injury,” replied Vigorelli.

“As for the future, we’ll consider that in time, there’s no rush. We are concentrated on ending the season well with Roma, there’s also the Europa Conference League to be faced in the best way possible.”

The Gazzetta dello Sport today suggested Roma have set a €70m cash price-tag on Zaniolo, while Juventus would prefer to offer €50m plus Weston McKennie.

“There are transfer rumours all year round. A champion like him will be linked with big clubs, at it is pleasing to see that, but at this moment he is a Roma player.”

There were also reports that Zaniolo was upset at being dropped to the bench throughout Roma’s 3-0 Derby della Capitale victory over arch-rivals Lazio at the weekend.

It might also be an indication of where Jose Mourinho is planning to focus on next season, as his team’s best performance had Zaniolo left out.

“Of course it was disappointing not to play in the derby, he really cared about this, but the derby was won and that was the most important thing.”
