Nicolò Zaniolo made history as the youngest ever Roma player to score for Italy. “It’s a dream come true” and he hopes to add another next summer.

The 20-year-old found the net twice in this evening’s 9-1 Euro 2020 qualifier against Armenia.

“I am very happy, I’ve made another dream come true tonight, but I realise it must be just the beginning and not a point of arrival,” Zaniolo told Rai Sport.

“Criticism is part of the game, I realise that I wasn’t in good shape for a while and the best way to reply is on the pitch.”

He also proved his versatility, playing as part of the trident attack in the first half and moving into a midfield three after the break.

“I can play both on the wing or as a midfielder, it makes no difference to me, I always try to give my best. I am focused only on playing and enjoying my football. A call-up for Euro 2020 is another dream and I hope to make that come true as well.”
