Javier Zanetti dreams of an Inter move for Paulo Dybala and pairing him with Mauro Icardi, and reflects on the possibility of Mario Balotelli returning.

The Nerazzurri are linked with interest in Palermo’s in-form 21-year-old striker, and today their Vice-President has made public his admiration for his compatriot.

“I met Dybala at a game for my charity foundation, and I believe that in these recent years he has shown all of his value,” Zanetti has told the Corriere dello Sport today.

“In this latest season, his progress has been crazy and he has had a remarkable consistency in his performances.

“Someone like him would be wanted by every club, and Inter is no exception. We will make an attempt to buy him.”

Reports are that Zanetti may have already spoken to Dybala in a bid to sway his decision.

“I am in full agreement with Piero Ausilio and the directors and I like how we are moving. I am supportive, but I love to work in silence.

“Would a partnership of Icardi and Dybala net 40 goals a season? I don’t know about that, but for Serie A they would form a very respectable attack.”

Mario Balotelli may also be linked again with a return to Inter this summer, following a difficult year at Liverpool.

“In football, anything can happen. Right now we are trying to build a team in tune with the indications from Roberto and the characteristics of those we seek we have discussed before.

“But if Mancini asks for Mario…

“His form after leaving Inter? I thought that he would find that continuity of performance in order to become an important player.

“He has many qualities and with us, beyond a few games, he often made the difference. It would be good for Italian football if he was calmer and proved his worth.

“His behaviour when at Inter? We spoke to him a lot. He too was disappointed and promised not to repeat certain mistakes. But then, after repentance and apologies, he’d do it again… If he had stayed at Inter, he may have progressed.”
