Inter captain Javier Zanetti was the only member of the team to speak to the media after their 3-0 humiliation by Bologna.
“It is a moment of difficulty, especially in the last few games, as we are unable to get the results. We are trying to drag ourselves out of this moment,” said the defender.
“It does happen and above all right now we need to find calm and the necessary strength to emerge from the hole.

“Someone who has been in football for as long as I have knows these things happen and you do climb out of these situations.
“We are all united, work to give our best and after many years of success this is the most difficult moment we’ve had in a long time. We all take responsibility, starting from myself, and we will fight to give a response against Marseille and then Napoli.
“We understand the fans are angry and they too must realise we are the first to be upset at this situation. In these moments everyone has to think of what is best for Inter and give a strong response.”
Zanetti was asked whether the team or club did not feel entirely in sync with Claudio Ranieri.
“There is total unity with the Coach and that is really not the issue. The season started on a tough note, then we had a series of positive results and for whatever reason after the Lazio game we had this lull.
“We’ve got to find the strength within ourselves to emerge from this moment, which does happen in football. It’s difficult, but once again up to us to get back on track.”
Fans protested during the 3-0 defeat and chanted for Jose Mourinho’s return to San Siro.
“Mourinho left a strong mark at Inter and we won so much with him, but at this moment there are other things to think about and we must stay united, as it’s the only way to emerge from this situation.
“There are some individual errors emerging recently, as we go so close to taking the lead and then get punished at the first mistake. We must all stick together and do whatever the Coach wants. If someone has to play out of position to help the team, then so be it.”
President Massimo Moratti took the very unusual step of leaving at half-time, when Bologna were only leading 2-0.
“It’s only normal he is very disappointed, as we’re not giving him everything he expects and deserves,” concluded Zanetti.
“We all take responsibility and must try to turn this around. The President worked so hard over all these years to help us achieve success. I’m sure he’ll be upset and disappointed, as are we.”
