Paolo Zanetti believes Venezia have turned a corner after their 2-1 win away to Empoli. ‘We won as a team and will feel different now.’

The Lagunari had until now lost both games without scoring a single goal following promotion from Serie A and even suffered a 4-0 friendly defeat to Brescia last week.

“We should’ve kept pushing after taking the lead, but instead started to go a bit too deep,” Zanetti told DAZN.

“Our psychological state wasn’t good, so that’s understandable, but I saw a team defend this result with tooth and claw. It’s a formative experience, because we won as a team and our work going forward will certainly feel different now.”

Okereke was the super-sub, coming off the bench to score 70 seconds later with a run from his own half.

“He has the characteristics to change the game, just like Dennis Johnsen did for us last season. Henry is a forward who works really hard for the team and holding up the ball.”
