Javier Zanetti will play in his 1,000th game as a professional tonight should he appear for Inter against Roma.
The two teams meet in the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final at San Siro and it could be a game to remember for the Nerazzurri captain.
"I'm proud to reach such a number," the Argentine noted. "To get to such a landmark is truly important for me.
"In my career I have always done everything with passion, football has given me a lot and I've looked to make myself useful with every opportunity.

Zanetti will follow in the footsteps of Peter Shilton, Ray Clemence, Pat Jennings, Alan Ball, David Seaman, Paolo Maldini, Andoni Zubizarreta, Roberto Carlos and Tommy Hutchinson.
"Roberto Carlos and Maldini are two people who I have always really admired," continued the South American.
"Maldini gave so much to world football and, since being in Italy, I have always admired him for his career and the person that he is."
Zanetti has played 33 times for Talleres, 66 with Banfield, 12 with the Argentina U-23 side, 140 with the national team and 748 with Inter so far.
"The match against Roma will be important for us and we hope to end the game celebrating," he added.
"Then after that I want to continue by playing game 1001, 1002, etc, until I get to the moment when I say stop."
