“When we bought him, we knew very well how it would develop,” Zanetti told Christian Vieri in an interview on Instagram Live. “We were waiting for this moment.
“He trains well with Conte and can still improve and give us a lot. In this difficult period, we haven’t thought about what will happen.
“But I find him happy here with his teammates, he’s having fun. And he gets along very well with [Romelu] Lukaku.”
Inter are currently third in the Scudetto battle, nine points behind league leaders Juventus with one game in hand, and Zanetti feels the side have the ‘conditions’ to fight for the top spot with Conte at the helm.
“There are many young players here and that’s the strength of this club,” Zanetti added. “The goal is to compete to win and with Conte there are the conditions to do so.
“We have seen a lot of progress this year.”
