Inter legend and current vice-president Javier Zanetti sees the club as ‘family’ after 25 years at San Siro and sees them playing better football than ever as they try to ‘defend the title.’

The Argentina hero sat down with the Lega Serie A channel to discuss his career, the vast majority of which was spent in the Nerazzurri colours.

“Inter are family, they are a part of me,” said Zanetti. “I arrived here 25 years ago to start a journey and I am proud to have been captain, just as I am proud to be vice-president of the club.”

They won the Scudetto last season after a decade’s absence from the top of the Serie A table and are now back up there again.

“The team plays great football and it’s the coach and lads who deserve credit for that. The team feels it is strong and has a remarkable mentality.

“The players know they have to defend the title that they earned last season. Everyone feels involved and that is important for a side with big objectives like ours.

“We want to defend the title and we are showing it game after game. Milan, Napoli and Atalanta are close by and I think it’ll be like that to the end of the season.”
