Inter legend Javier Zanetti urges the team to ‘continue like this’ after two wins from their first two games.

The former full-back was speaking at a sponsorship event this afternoon, and gave his thoughts on this season’s Nerazzurri.

“It’s a new squad, because we brought in so many players,” Zanetti told the assembled media.

“I think they understand what it means to wear the Inter shirt. We hope to continue like this.”

Zanetti, who is now Beneamata vice-President, also reflected on his own career, in particular the Champions League win in 2010.

“We were a very strong squad, also in terms of character, and we lived and breathed to win. We wanted [to win] that final at all costs.

“Lifting the trophy? I thought about all my years at Inter, and how it was the greatest joy I could give to my fans.

“My favourite goal? If I had to choose, I’d say the one against Roma, which gave us the Scudetto.

“My retirement? It wasn’t an easy decision, but I think about a 23-year career it was time! It was the right choice, and now I try to make myself useful for Inter.”
