Javier Zanetti wants Inter to be ‘contenders’ but stops short of predicting a Scudetto win.

The Nerazzurri have taken six points from their first two games, while Roma, Lazio, Juventus, Milan and Napoli have all dropped points.

“The League has just begun, and it’s a long campaign,” Zanetti cautioned at a charity event for his foundation.

“The important thing is that Inter get back to being contenders.”

Zanetti also discussed his role as Beneamata vice-President.

“I’m happy in this role, because it has allowed me to stay at Inter after I finished playing, which is what I wanted.

“I’m gaining experience, I’m studying so I can be more helpful, and we hope that, together with the team, we can have a great season.”
