Inter ‘hope the gap will be a bit smaller’ to Juventus this season, explains vice-President Javier Zanetti.
The Nerazzurri ended last season 32 points behind the Old Lady, but have made significant investment this summer in order to move closer.
“We hope the gap [to Juventus] will be a bit smaller,” Zanetti said at a Pirelli event.
“Now our goal is to return to Europe, and we’re making every effort to be competitive again.

“Now our goal is to return to Europe, and we’re making every effort to be competitive again.
“First we have to build a good team, then we’ll talk about the pitch. The conditions are good, but we have to keep our feet on the ground.
“We’ll try to start well, then we’ll understand where we are as a team.”
Part of the reason many pundits believe the Bianconeri will be less dominant this season is a major overhaul of their squad.
The likes of Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez have left, with Paulo Dybala, Daniele Rugani, Simone Zaza and Sami Khedira coming in.
Following their treble of 2010, many believe this is the route Inter should have taken, but Zanetti isn’t so sure.
“Everyone has always said that after the treble we should have revolutionised the squad, but remember that season we finished second in the League, and we won the Club World Cup and the Coppa Italia.
“We were coming to the end of a cycle of course, but it’s always hard to understand when to make certain moves. Juve have made their choice.
“The new faces will give them different things, they’ve worked to remain the top team. Dybala is young but knows our League, and the others have international experience.
“They’ll miss their [Pirlo and Tevez’s] charisma, and with Vidal, Juve will lose something else too. But they have a lot of guys with character, like [Gigi] Buffon, [Giorgio] Chiellini, [Claudio] Marchisio…”
