Inter legend Javier Zanetti has wished Bryan Cristante well after the youngster left Milan for Benfica.
The 19-year-old was surprisingly sacrificed by the Diavolo when the two clubs reportedly agreed a €6m fee.
“He is a very young player, one who has his whole future in front of him,” the Argentine told O Jogo.
“I hope that he will be able to show all of his qualities for a prestigious club such as Benfica.”
Benfica boss Jorge Jesus last week praised his outfit for their swoop of the Italian youth international.
“Cristante is a young player with great potential,” the 60-year-old tactician commented. “I wish him all the best in the Benfica jersey.
“He needs to settle into his new environment and will be in competition with Andreas Samaris for a place in the side, but I’m sure that Cristante will do well.
“Will he be worth €25m in a couple of years? I don’t know. I’m just focusing on helping him to grow as a footballer.”
