The President had said over the last few days that he was looking at several options to reinforce the midfield during the transfer window.

“Recently we have sent scouts to watch Rakitic at Schalke 04, Hochstrasser of Young Boys and young Parolo at Cesena,” Zamparini told the Corriere del Mezzogiorno newspaper.

Rakitic has already been linked with numerous Serie A sides and the 22-year-old Croatian has been at Schalke 04 since 2007.

Hochstrasser is also 22 and can play out wide as well as in a more central midfield role. He has been with Swiss side Young Boys since 2006 and scored in the Champions League preliminary round against Tottenham.

Parolo has impressed during his debut Serie A season for Cesena and is more of a winger than a midfielder, particularly in his club's 4-3-3 system.
