The Sicilian side sit third from bottom of Serie A, and are no less than eight points adrift of 17th-placed club Empoli.
With the hiring of Sporting Director Nicola Salerno announced yesterday, the Rosanero chief also explained the decision not to fire Coach Eugenio Corini.
"Nicola Salerno? I've known him so long, and he let me know of his availability," Zamparini told Giornale di Sicilia.
"I was not Sporting Director, I needed someone that would bring peace and he was close to the team and to me in making transfer market decisions.
"He has great expertise and enthusiasm, and achieved an impressive salvation with Cagliari that we can try to do with Palermo.
"Corini? Salerno and I have decided that it is not the time to change.
"The team play under his management and he didn't convince me with a point scored against Pescara, Empoli and Sassuolo, but we must give him a chance.
"Results weigh heavily, but we must trust Corini because it is a time of transition.
"Now we will turn our attention to the transfer market, we must all believe in salvation because we can do it."
