Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini admits a deal for Arsenal’s Joel Campbell is now ‘impossible’.
The Rosanero patron is in London, and had been trying to negotiate a transfer for the Costa Rican, but the arrival of Uros Djurdjevic has scuppered any deal.
“I’m in London now, I tried to close it [the deal] last week,” Zamparini explained in an interview with Radio Sportiva.

“Right now it’s impossible, I only have one non-EU slot in the squad, and I opted for the Serbian, Djurdjevic.
“Besides, I’m not in the habit of getting players from clubs like Arsenal. I’m a President who looks for less well-known players, from clubs like Cremonese or Avellino.
“Let me explain my policy this year: I had based my plans on two or three players coming in, who haven’t, but not because of me.
“It was probably destiny that it would be like this. Since I’m a lucky person, if this is the way it’s gone, then it means this way is ok.”
