The fiery patron has gone through many tacticians in his career and explains why Rossi could be next.

“What irritates me is not Rossi per se, but the fact in Italy the Coaches feel themselves to be icons and the work of the club is shoved into the background,” slammed Zamparini on Radio Radio TV.

“The President is Number One because he pays the Coaches and dictates the strategy. A Coach must follow up and act within the work of the club.

“I consider Rossi to be a master and one of the best tacticians in Italy but, like all his colleagues, he doesn't listen, thinks Coaches invented football and that Presidents are only useful for paying wages.”

When asked if he would be sticking with Rossi in 2011, Zamparini was evasive.

“I don't think Rossi agrees with ‘ifs' and ‘buts.' Rossi is from the Romagna region and he's spiky. My wish for 2011 is that we start to get along better and can work together.

“Our director of sport Walter Sabatini resigned precisely because of these debates. I would like for Coaches to listen and not have tantrums.”

Sabatini quit following a row with Zamparini and remains very good friends with Rossi.

“I want this squad to fight for the Champions League. We can finish sixth or seventh and that's fine, as long as we battle. However, without refereeing errors, clearly this Palermo would be top of the table right now.”
