“I never said Miccoli shouldn't play,” replied Zamparini on Radio Kiss Kiss. “Fabrizio is my captain, the flag of Palermo and the player I care about the most.
“What did say was that he couldn't leave out Pastore in such a difficult and important game. Don't forget last time he faced Catania, Pastore scored three goals. He makes the difference and it would be like Napoli dropping Edinson Cavani.
“A balanced Coach doesn't say things like that to the newspapers, especially because they weren't true.
“I am amazed by his bitterness, considering he cost me €500,000, which is a grand total of €100,000 per weekend.”
Miccoli wasn't in the starting XI against Catania either, as Cosmi claimed the captain found out about this row and took a step back to avoid further confrontation.
Cosmi worked with Miccoli at the start of his Serie A career in Perugia, so they are very close.
Zamparini also reiterated he has no intention of selling Pastore to Roma, or indeed any other club.
The President was there at the Lega Calcio dinner when Napoli patron Aurelio De Laurentiis and Lazio's Claudio Lotito allegedly came to blows.
“I had great fun! I was a peace-maker, embracing and pulling away first Lotito, then De Laurentiis, who stayed outside with me.
“In my view there were two bottles of red wine extra on each side. All our brains were a little fuzzy.
