Denis Zakaria highlighted his desire to ‘win many trophies here at Juventus’ following his move from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 25-year-old Swiss midfielder has joined the Bianconeri on a four-and-a-half year contract worth €3m net per season, moving from the Bundesliga outfit in a deal worth €7m in total. The player is an important reinforcement for coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is fighting for a top four finish this season.

Speaking to JuventusTV, Zakaria discussed his arrival at Juventus and spoke about his pride at joining the team.

“Signing for Juventus is something exceptional for me. I still have to realize it. It’s a great club, I’m very honoured and proud to be a part of it. I will give my best to bring my contribution. I can help the team recover balls, that’s one of my qualities.

“I can contribute with my progression and dynamism. I can contribute with my mentality of wanting to win every game, although I know that’s already the mentality of the team. I want to put my energy at the disposal of the team to obtain important results.

“My goal is to win trophies with Juventus. Juventus are a great club, who have to win something every year. For me it is important to play well, to give joy to the fans and to win trophies.”

He explained why he decided to take the number 28 shirt.

“I chose number 28 because it’s the number I started playing with at Servette. I also wore it at Young Boys. At Gladbach I wore number 8, but here I had the chance to choose 28 again. It’s a number that has always brought me luck and I hope it will bring me luck here too.”

Finally, Zakaria sent a message to the fans.

“To the Juventus fans I want to say that there is a new fighting player in the team, who will give his all to help the team express itself at the highest level.

“I want to win many trophies here at Juventus, and at Juventus I want to grow and make the fans happy. I hope to do that already from the next game.”

The 25-year-old Swiss midfielder has made 18 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1528 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal, provided one assist and impressed defensively, attracting the attention of many top clubs around Europe.

  1. This Guy is a Good Player, but hes Not Really what we Need Right Now… We need a Creative Midfield Playmaker…. Even we Can buy the Best Striker in the World,he will struggle due to Lack of Quality Ball from Midfield to him to able to Score….

  2. Be careful with all these promises Zakatia. If you have one or two bad games they will come back to haunt you!!!

  3. @Darrel, We have Dybala, Arthur and Locatelli for that role. Still not enough for you, Mate? IMO, Zidane was useless without strong players like Davids, Conte, Tacchinardi on his side. So yeah, for me, Zakaria is what Juve really need to support Arthur and Locatelli.

  4. @Debu. If you rate Arthur then you must be watching a diff Juve than the rest of us.

I agree with @Darrel Jupiter. Zakaria is a strong player but we had that with Bentancur when he was used in a similar CDM role such as I expect Zakaria will be. Don’t get ne wrong Bentancur is not at Zakaria’s level. Just was not as bug a glaring need as a okaymaker and a left back.

Good business for the money for sure and no complaints that we got him. Just had and still have bigger holes to fill

  5. I believe zakaria is what we need imagine this lineup of 4_2_3_1 consisting of pellegrini_bonucci_delight_danilo/desciglio_zakaria _ locatelli _cudrado_ dybala – chiesa_ vlahovic and then in summer get pobga and zaniolo with cambiaso
