The Azzurri won their qualifying group for Euro 2016 ahead of Norway and Croatia, and the former Milan Coach thinks they’re on the right path.
“This is a national team with a good spirit, regardless of who plays,” Zaccheroni explained to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

“They’re together, they attack and defend together, it’s a real football team. They have an open mind and different solutions, Conte has done a great job, from every point of view.”
Conte has so far been vague on the subject of renewing his contract with the FIGC after the tournament, could Zaccheroni be the next Italy CT? “There’s been talk of me with the national team since 2006. I’ve always maintained that it’s not for me to say.
“I hear different people say ‘I’m ready’ but I don’t say it. I’m a Coach, and I evaluate offers. I’ve had some, but none which intrigued me.
“National team or club? The important thing is that the conditions are right, and I’m not talking about a project, because I’ve yet to actually see a project in football.
“I go on instinct.”
