Mattia Zaccagni could receive his Lazio debut tomorrow against Milan and is confident he can ‘improve a great deal’ by working with Maurizio Sarri.

It kicks off on Sunday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

“I am very happy to be here, Lazio are a huge opportunity for me. It’s a fantastic squad and I think I’ll be played in more or less the same role I had at Hellas Verona,” said the creative midfielder in his press conference.

“I made my Serie A debut at San Siro against Inter, so it would be fun to start again in the same arena with a different shirt.”

The deal was done very quickly on transfer deadline day, after the Biancocelesti’s initial negotiations with other targets fell through.

“As soon as I heard about Lazio’s interest, I did not hesitate. I said yes straight away and I am convinced that Sarri will improve me a great deal. Aside from the coach, who is one of the best, I also wanted to join a club with so much history.”

Zaccagni might not get quite so much regular playing time at Lazio as he enjoyed with Verona, especially with Pedro and Felipe Anderson in the mix too.

“It is simply an honour for me and I can learn so much from working alongside these great teammates.”
