Amin Younes says “certain things happened” to stop his transfer to Napoli, and “now I feel like an Ajax player”.

The winger has already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Partenopei, but it’s far from clear if he’ll actually make the move to Italy.

The deal was supposed to be done early, in January, and the German international took a medical in Naples.

However, the deal was never completed, ostensibly because Younes wanted to be close to his ailing grandfather.

The deal was supposed to be done early, in January, and the German international took a medical in Naples.

However, the deal was never completed, ostensibly because Younes wanted to be close to his ailing grandfather.

Since that though rumours have begun to emerge that he doesn’t want to join Napoli anymore, with the player himself stating that he’s not sure he’ll go in the summer.

“I got up in the dressing room and explained to the squad that my transfer had fallen through,” Younes explained to reporters in the Netherlands, having played for the youth team last night.

“Certain things happened and now I’m back. This situation has nothing to do with Ajax. Now I’m here and I feel like an Ajax player.”

It remains to be seen if Younes will try to get out of his Napoli contract, or whether the Partenopei will simply sign him, even if they then sell him immediately.
