The Fluorsid owner yesterday completed his takeover of Massimo Cellino’s shares in the Isolani and today is expected to not only face the Press, but also confirm Francesco Marroccu’s return as sporting director and Zdenek Zeman’s arrival as Coach.
“I had considered Mario Beretta, a technician who I have admired for years, but the Bohemian was from the beginning our main candidate,” Gilulini has revealed to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I am fascinated by his football and I am sure that he will make an impression at Cagliari. I have only one regret – in recent days it had seemed he preferred other clubs.
“But, on the other hand I have the certainty that he has wanted us from the beginning. And for the future you will all come to terms with our ambitions – Cagliari will not be a fallback for anyone.”
Giulini also spoke with Tuttomercatoweb on the new appointment.
“He is the right man to jump-start Cagliari’s new course. He has chosen to come back into the game with us and we are proud to have a Coach like him.
“His ability to manage the dressing room and his football teachings are the basis of his mode of training. Then, in seaside towns he has always done well, so we are confident.”
With the Gazzetta dello Sport, Giulini considered the motivation behind investing in Cagliari.
“Because my family feels connected to this land. Here we have so much to give back and we believe in a commitment that gives prominence to the area. The Americans ran away. Instead, Fluorsid have remained, investing over the last two years.
“Our plans? Wednesday work will start at the Sant’Elia – by the start of the season 12,00o seats will be guaranteed. Then in December we will have practically 16,000.
“With the mayor Zedda there is a deal that by the end of the year we will have found a final design. The idea is to work on a 30,000-seater facility, part of a larger project. I know there will be a basketball arena and many other beautiful ideas.
“But I want to clarify that wants to offer space to specialised investors, so come forward, you are welcome.”
