Leonardo Bonucci didn’t play against North Macedonia last night but has been targeted by several English fans and journalists who have not forgotten what the defender did after Italy beat England in the Euro 2020 Final.

The Juventus defender is recovering from a calf injury so he was not available against North Macedonia last night. He was visibly disappointed when he left the pitch at the end of the match, knowing that he may not play a World Cup again in his career.

He has been targeted by many English fans and journalists on social media who have not forgotten what the veteran defender did and said following Italy’s victory in the Euro 2020 Final against England at Wembley Stadium.

Bonucci had taunted the English several times signing ‘it’s coming Rome’ or shouting at Chiellini that the Three Lions had to eat ‘a lot of pasta’ before reaching Italy’s level, suggesting that they were not experienced enough.

  1. Disgraceful attittude, regardless who you are supporting. Bonucci perfectly represents Juventus and what is wrong with that club.

Remember when he attacked an Inter official after losing the SuperCup in 2022 and threatened to kill him?

  2. at least he did win an international cup in his lifetime, unlike english footballers who haven’t done so in two generations. they will go to qatar, let’s see if they return empty handed as usual.

  3. Easy to take cheap shots on social media but I have to admit that the Euro celebration went overboard and distracted the team for the Bulgaria match which is when everything started falling apart. They were not focused and a little too self-satisfied after winning the Euros.

  4. The funny thing is that no one ever says England under achieve. They are expected to fail. I’ve always liked watching England play. But because of some of these English fans, I’m kind of hoping England self destruct in Qatar.

  5. It’s funny how there is no mention that England have just one World Cup and Italy have four World Cups and two European Championship trophies.
All of that only serves to remind us Italians how gutted they were at losing on their home turf!
Come back and criticise us when you have more trophies than Italy!

  6. I am telling you Italy were playing with swagger and confidence at the Euro’s and then all of a sudden Mancini found his inner Allegri and the rest is history. As for mocking England never say never as the ballistic missile corners, set pieces and 300mph whipped crosses nearly fluked it. If the big guns in Qatar mess up who knows what could happen. England will get an easy group and I bet an easy path so who knows.

  7. English fans celebrating another teams loss like it is a win for them just shows how completely out of touch they are. This is why so many neutral fans were happy to see an Italian side beat them.

  8. Typical of English fans to feed of off other team losses. L they should look at themselves. A team that always gets sent home in disappointment. If they think Harry Kane is going to bring them to the promised land they should give up now.

  9. Thank you

Thank you for the memories of this past summer. Thank you for 2006. Thank you for 1982. Thank you for many semifinals and finals. I’m very happy that I have been able to live through these moments of joy and disappointment. Don’t pay attention to those that kick you when you are down. Sadly that is their World Cup and Euro cup seeing us exit. They may never live to feel what we have felt.

Have a good summer and eat some pasta. They can have their fish and chips

    Viva Italia

  10. Brazil with an essy 4 goals yesterday. Already qualified with ease and they score for fun.

Even with some glaring weaknesses I can’t see how they can’t be amongst the favorites.

  11. Oh English Twitter users. You aren’t nice. First of all bonucci said that, no reason to be mad at chiellini. Poor them though, they’ll never be able to play a world cup again, not even win one:(

  12. I mean…England is going to return home again with no trophy…so…it’s all useless really. let them troll!

  13. Hey you English fans. Look in the mirror. I can’t believe how you don’t understand how many non Italian fans were backing us. Just look how you behaved at Wembley. You haven’t won anything since ’68. Change your ways and you’ll see Karma change course. You should be worried about Prince Andrew and not what Bonucci said.

  14. It’s typical of football fans in this country. They’re clueless and obnoxious. Clueless about the game, clueless about how mediocre our football culture is (and often our talent), and clueless about how gross the Premier League is. We had everything set up for us to win last year, and still failed. Mugs will throw jibes at Leo, as if they’ve somehow won, when nothing could be further from the truth. Last year he took the trophy away – one more trophy than most of us will ever see England win. There’s a reason why people root for England’s opposition these days, and I don’t blame them. I find it difficult to root for our team nowadays, and although I wanted England to win, I can’t say I was too sorry to see Italy win, as they have a far more likeable team.
