As per Il Secolo XIX, that has activated an option of around €1.5m for them to buy the defender, although he will have the final say.

The newspaper assures that, despite interest from clubs in Turkey, France and United Arab Emirates, the 31-year-old ‘intends’ to stick with Samp.

Such would be his desire to stay that he is prepared to take a considerable pay cut on his current €2.9m salary.

Although the Ligurians are offering him a two-year contract, it is worth in the region of just €1m a season.
