Yildiz selects iconic Juventus squad number as new contract beckons

Kenan Yildiz has chosen to wear the iconic no.10 shirt for Juventus this season, previously worn by one of his childhood heroes Alessandro Del Piero, as the Next Gen graduate looks set to sign off on a new contract in the coming days.

Juventus will begin their 2024-25 Serie A campaign at home against Como on Monday evening. They will have to confirm their squad numbers before the end of Sunday.

Yildiz to become new Juventus no.10

According to ilBianconero and several other outlets in Italy, Juventus have allowed Yildiz to select the no.10 after an impressive break-through season last term.

The shirt number is considered to be a mini-bonus, as the talented Turkey international is set to renew his contract with Juventus.

Yildiz was already tied to a long-term deal at the Allianz Stadium, but the club have decided to hand him an increase in wages from around €300,000 per season to a base salary of €1m per year, excluding bonuses.

His new deal will still come with a slight extension, until the summer of 2029.

The Bianconeri have been working on an extension to Yildiz’s contract throughout the summer, as they felt it necessary to tie him down during the EUROs in case he ‘accidentally’ put himself in the shop window.
