Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa insists Roma “are on a par with Juventus” and it’s “a pleasure” to work with Rudi Garcia.
The defender is on loan from Newcastle United and rediscovered his confidence in Serie A during an injury crisis that ruled out Davide Astori and Leandro Castan.
“We played very well against Juventus and helped each other out on the field,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“We are on a par with Juventus, but unfortunately the game did not go the way we hoped. Now we need to be ready for the next tests, as we want to fight for the Scudetto.”
Like Gervinho, Yanga-Mbiwa rushed to Roma when called by his former Coach Garcia.
“I’ve known him since Lille. He has a very precise idea of football and it is a pleasure to work with him. He’s a good guy and gets the players at ease before a game.
“Now we’ve got to be ready for Chievo and Bayern Munich, as that is going to be a very important game for the Champions League.”
