Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa says that seven points is not so great a distance from title rivals Juventus.

The Giallorossi are enduring a selection headache, with Daniele De Rossi and Kevin Strootman on the treatment table, Seydou Keita and Gervinho still at the Africa Cup of Nations and Mattia Destro on his way to Milan.

Even combined with an increased gap to League leaders Juventus, Roma’s Yanga-Mbiwa is refusing to throw in the towel.

“Seven points may seem like a lot, but it only takes two losses for them and two victories for us and the gap is closed,” the 25-year-old has told Sky Sport Italia.

“Now it's up to us to get back to winning again, to get back on track. We'll draw our conclusions at the end.

“Juventus have had greater continuity so far, they have been more regular with their performances.

“But in any case it's a long season and all teams have to go through a tough, delicate phase.

“You've got to wait it out, and then get to work again to return to victory.”
