Sky Sport Italia are confident the final details are being worked out, so Granit Xhaka can complete his transfer from Arsenal to Roma.

The Swiss international midfielder was the first request on coach Jose Mourinho’s list when he took over from Paulo Fonseca at the Stadio Olimpico.

Negotiations dragged on throughout the summer, but finally seem to be reaching their conclusion.

According to today’s report, they are on track to have Xhaka meet up with his new teammates in their Portuguese pre-season training camp next week.

He has already agreed personal terms worth a reported €2.5m per season until June 2025.

Arsenal have not budged from their total €20m asking price, although Roma are trying to bridge it with performance-related bonuses and add-ons.

The Gunners became more amenable after securing Xhaka’s replacement, signing Albert Sambi Lokonga from RSC Anderlecht this week.

Xhaka turns 29 in September and his contract in London runs to June 2023.
