Barcelona coach Xavi admits it was ‘difficult to choose this starting XI’ to face Napoli in the Europa League play-off.

The first leg ended 1-1 at Camp Nou.

“The squad is almost full-strength now and those who are on the bench are ready to step in, so we try to rotate to maintain freshness, but the team must also be competitive,” Xavi told Sky Sport Italia.

He again chose the January signings for his trident attack, with Adama Traore, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres together.

“It was difficult to choose this starting XI, because so many players are ready now. We have many options and will never give in.

“With the five substitutions allowed now, the game can change from one moment to the next.”

Ferran Torres converted a soft penalty in the first leg to cancel out the Piotr Zielinski opener.

The winners will go through to the Europa League Round of 16, but the away goals rule has been abolished.
