Barcelona coach Xavi was furious with referee Slavko Vincic in yesterday’s 1-0 loss to Inter and he appeared to suggest that the official had been paid off during the match.

The Catalan side were left with an extremely bitter taste in their mouthes after the defeat at San Siro last night, believing that Pedri’s goal shouldn’t have been ruled out and that a penalty should’ve been given after an apparent handball by Denzel Dumfries in the dying minutes of the match. Xavi was clearly infuriated when speaking to the media after the defeat, calling it an ‘outrage’.

As highlighted by Eurosport IT, Xavi’s anger wasn’t limited to just words and at one point during the match he appeared to do a ‘paid off’ gesture towards the referee, suggesting that Inter had influenced the decisions. The moment wasn’t caught on the broadcast but has since gone viral on social media.

Xavi was booked for his touchline anger during the match and Barcelona are now ready to report referee Vincic to UEFA, believing his poor officiating cost them the match.

  1. They are cry babies for sure. I remember semi finals that were gifted to these guys by refs making obvious mistakes. Neymar’s falling down habit alone cost opposing teams goals, not to mention Busquets, Mr. Falling down.
Pedri’s handball situation was definite. Not so sure about Dumfries though; did it come off his head first? Does it matter?

  2. Grande Don Beppe. Legend!!! To take the VAR from to Europe is masterful. Inter deserved it and took their chance with precision and broke with speed at any chance. Compare this to slow side, side and more side side tika taka with no end product and been outdated for too long.

  3. The way Xavi is behaving, does this have to do with the fact that they really need to go far into this competition?.. Not much economic levers to pull i guess?.. which was and still is a rather dangerous gamble

  4. I read somewhere that Barcelona made a record profit last season but is still owed tens of millions of dollars in player salaries. How is that even possible?
