Maignan stretchered off after nasty head collision

10 minutes into the second half, Maignan came rushing out of his area in an attempt to clear a troubling Udinese pass, but wiped out his own defender Jimenez in the process, with the pair suffering a nasty clash of heads in the process.

Both hit the deck, with Maignan appearing to briefly lose consciousness. Play was immediately stopped, despite the fact that Udinese were through on an open goal.

The stretcher was called for immediately, and the Frenchman was briefly rolled onto his side into the recovery position, before being taken off the pitch and down the tunnel.

Milan have confirmed in an official statement that Maignan was conscious when he made it off the pitch. Reports later confirmed that he had been taken to hospital for further checks.

Jimenez was also substituted off a quarter of an hour later, walking off in a visible daze. It was surprising that he had been allowed to continue in the first place. Teammate Fikayo Tomori signalled that he needed to be substituted just before the call was made.

  1. It makes zero sense. He virtually wipes out little Alex, and yet Alex carried on like a warrior. This stadium is not a happy place for lightweight Mike 😂
