While Sweden had all the best chances, their finishing left a lot to be desired, as Marcus Berg scuffed off target, but Yann Sommer did fly to fingertip another Berg attempt round the upright.

Ex-Bologna midfielder Albin Ekdal horribly wasted when somehow blasting over undisturbed from six yards on the stroke of half-time.

The deadlock was eventually broken when Emil Forsberg hit a strike that was going straight at the goalkeeper, but it took a massive deflection off Manuel Akanji to leave Sommer hopelessly wrong-footed.

Forsberg cleared a Breel Embolo header almost off the line, but in stoppages Robin Olsen had to make his first genuine save, smothering a downward header from ex-Fiorentina forward Haris Seferovic.

With practically the last kick of the game, Martin Olsson surged forward on the counter and Michael Lang pushed him right on the edge of the box and received a red card, but viewing it again on VAR, realised the foul was outside the box and therefore no penalty.
