Argentina confirm that after Nico Gonzalez, Inter striker Joaquin Correa will also miss the World Cup due to an injury.

Nico suffered a muscle injury during today’s training session and was replaced by Atletico Madrid’s Angel Correa, but another Serie A striker, Inter’s Joaquin Correa, has been forced to the sidelines and won’t join his national team in Qatar.

Argentina have confirmed that the Inter striker was also removed from Lionel Scaloni’s 26-man squad list and will be replaced by Thiago Almada.

The South Americans revealed that Nico has offered a femoral bicep injury in his left thigh, while Correa is dealing with a tendon injury, also in his left thigh.

Correa had scored a goal in Argentina’s 5-0 win over UAE on Wednesday but was left with knee pain.

“AFA wishes a speedy recovery at this moment and appreciates their unconditional support over the last four years,” an official statement from the Argentinean’s federation reads.

Nico and Correa’s injuries mean that Paulo Dybala, Angel Di Maria and Lautaro Martinez are the only three Serie A representatives in the Argentinean squad for Qatar 2022.

They will make their debut on November 22 against Saudi Arabia.

Correa, 28, has scored three goals in 18 appearances across all competitions with Inter this term.
